California Pitcher Sage

Lepechinia calycina

California pitcher sage is a wonderfully fragrant perennial shrub with white digitalis-like flowers that bloom April to June. A hummingbird plant, fairly deer proof, and great for a bird garden.

Water: Can handle drought as well as excessive water, but must have good drainage

Habit: 5 to 8' tall and 3 to 6' wide evergreen perennial shrub

Light: Full Sun to Partial Shade

Soil: Neutral, good drainage is essential

Origin: Chaparral areas in Central and Southern California
