African Dream Root

Silene capensis

African dream root has been used for millennia by the Xhosa shamans of the river valleys in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where it is known as “ubulawu” or “white paths.” The root can be harvested after the second year of growth, and has been used to induce spectacularly vivid lucid dreams. The fragrant white flowers open primarily at night, when they emit a fragrant and almost hypnotizing aroma.
