Rocatillo’ Hot Pepper

Capsicum chinense

Shaped like a patty pan squash, the 2″ round pods of the rocatillo are squat and scalloped at the edges and ripen to orange, brown, and red. Milder than a habanero, it is the classic chile for Carribean jerked meat dishes.

Habit: 18" tall by 12" wide. In our area, peppers can be made to perennialize when protected from frost in the Winter.
