Pincushion Flower

Scabiosa lucida

This little pincushion flower is quite a charmer for the rock garden or in the front of the perennial border! In late Spring, the basal rosettes of shiny deep green almost succulent leaves give rise to 15″ stalks of pale blue flowers. Scabiosas are nectar-rich and attractive to many insects including butterflies and moths.
