Tabasco’ Hot Pepper

Capsicum frutescens

Compact upward pointing red pods contrasted with dark green foliage make the tabasco pepper an attractive ornamental, great for growing in window boxes or in pots which can be moved or taken inside in the Winter. Small, spicy peppers are ideal for – you guessed it – hot sauce!

Hardiness: Frost Tender

Habit: 16" tall by 10" wide. In our area, peppers can be made to perennialize when protected from frost in the Winter.

Light: Full Sun

Soil: Fertile, well- draining soil

Origin: Originally from the Amazon basin, but has travelled all over the world and is widely cultivated in India and much of Africa
