
Chocolate Habanero’ Hot Pepper
Capsicum chinense
This pepper has dark chocolate-colored pods that are slightly bigger and reported to be twice as spicy as the common orange habanero. Tropical peppers do well planted next to the house, in a greenhouse, or in a pot that is protected during the Winter (ideal to maintain soil temps above 65℉).

Hardiness: Frost Tender
Habit: 18" tall by 12" wide. In our area, peppers can be made to perennialize when protected from frost in the Winter.
Light: Full Sun
Soil: Fertile, well- draining soil
Origin: Originally from the Peruvian Amazon, and domesticated in Mexico and the Carribean. Habaneros are named for the city of Havana, Cuba.
