Red Colombian Manzano’ Hot Pepper
Capsicum pubescans
Manzano peppers have 3″ round red pods that are juicy and thick-walled with black seeds. This variety is similar to the red Peruvian one except that the fruit is larger and meatier and thicker walled. Moderately spicy, slightly hotter than a jalapeño, with delicious, fruity tropical top notes. Great for fresh salsas. Tropical peppers do well planted next to the house, in a greenhouse, or in a pot that is protected during the winter.
